Walk of Indulgence

Avalon’s lower school students walked to Forest Oak Cemetery Tuesday to offer prayers for souls in purgatory.
The Walk of Indulgences is an annual event students perform at the local graveyard for souls in purgatory to go to heaven.
Students walked approximately half of a mile in the cold and rain wearing ponchos.
“The walk was very long and it was cold,” said fourth grader Koen Smith. “It was raining a lot.”
Teachers Istvan Teleki and Tom Stroot lead students in praying the Our Father and the Hail Mary.
The cemetery is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, off of Maryland Route 355, and next to Gaitherstowne Plaza.
