Avalon Student Struck By Car On His Way To Work

By Clayton Schuette

A Giant food shopper struck an Avalon student Tuesday with her car while the student rode his bike to work.

Junior Jaxson Quintero suffered a possible torn meniscus and a contusion to his left knee.

The women drove through a stop sign going 30 miles an hour and struck Quintero in an intersection as he rode his bike to work.

Quintero works at Giant Food in Gaithersburg.

The lady stayed with him while her passenger went to a nearby McDonald’s to tell police officers.

Later, Quintero’s father took Jaxson to the hospital because of severe pain in his knee.

The junior transfer student from Magruder High will wear crutches and is now waiting on the doctors results.

Despite his injuries, Quintero is overjoyed  that he was barely injured.

“I’m just beyond super grateful to be alive,” he said. “Thank God for letting me see another fabulous day.”
