Avalon Soccer team members look forward to the start of winter indoor futsol action in January after Winter Break.

After a loss against Calverton School in the MISAL Championship, the Black Knights will prepare for the upcoming 2015-2016 season by joining Germantown Futsol League.

“I am very much so looking forward to the beginning of our winter season here at Avalon,”  said Avalon assistant coach Justin Kanka. “Our fall season did not end on the high note that everyone grew to expect based on the team’s performance throughout the course of the season.”

Players such as team captains  Biagio Vignola, Matthew Tobin and Dennis Umana will play on the team this winter. The full roster is not available to due to other members participating in sports such as basketball and baseball.

Tobin, a junior defender, said, “I am looking forward to the indoor season and [I’m] ready to play some soccer again.”

Junior Sebastian Gilardi, who broke his leg in the fall during a regular season game will be available. However, he will be on the sideline supporting his teammates.

Avalon head coach Gustavo Gilardi is excited to get the team together again and continue their improvement.

Still, he expects the players to enjoy the experience and their time together.

“It will be a season of enjoyment and having fun!” he exclaimed.
