Avalon Director of Development Ellen Clifford announced Friday the Avalon-Brookwood Harvest Dance is postponed to November due to a scheduling snafu.
The dance, held at the Knights of Columbus facility on Rosensteel Ave in Silver Spring, is moved to November 16 but will function under the new name Turkey Trot. The Knights of Columbus made the error when they double booked Rosensteel Hall.
Many students voiced displeasure by the mistake and are mad that they have to change their schedules around.
Still, other students saw promise in the date because it won’t conflict with sports games the day after or the day before.
Also, the delay gives Avalon students extra time to get flowers for their dates and the girls have more time to grab fresh new dresses.
Additionally, the administration and faculty expect a greater turnout with more time to promote the event.
Tickets are back on sale and previously ordered tickets are still valid.
