It’s the scariest month of the year, and while you’re picking out a fang-tastic costume and carefully carving a zombie inspired jack-o-lantern, don’t forget the DC area has a large selection of concerts and performances in October. Let’s take a look at some of these ghostly shows.
On October 2nd, the American electro-pop band 3OH!3 plays at Baltimore’s Rams Head Live. The group, formed in Boulder, Colo., currently has hit songs Starstruck and Don’t Trust Me.
One night later, Switchfoot comes to the Silver Spring Fillmore on October 3. A very popular rock band, they consist of five surfers who decided to name their group after a commonly used surf term. Their songs are featured on ESPN and on soundtracks to popular movies such as The Chronicles of Narnia.
The Fillmore also welcomes rap artist Waka Flocka Flame, a southern hip-hop sensation, on the October 6.
The Walkmen, a rock band out of New York, come to DC’s most hallowed venue, The 9:30 Club, on October 15. The group has played together since before high school and have produced over 15 albums throughout that time period.
Merriweather Post Pavilion will host outdoor events throughout the month. None however, will be as popular as Virgin Mobile Freefest, an affair that promises all different kinds of music genres. Classic Rock legends ZZ Top are among a variety of different performers that range from Skillrex to Jack White, plus newer pop groups such as M83.
For the little kids out there, fear not, The Warner Theater hosts children’s music great The Wiggles on October 9. The Wiggles are a group of five Australians that have made a television show directed just for kids to laugh and get involved while watching TV.
